Where this gear actually comes from

A $229 rain shell and a $79 rain shell are frequently sewn in the same industrial park in Fujian, from adjacent rolls of the same laminate. The difference in price is mostly brand, retail overhead and dealer margin — not manufacturing.

VÅGSLAND works directly with those manufacturers and skips the layers in between. That's the entire business model. There's no secret to it.

What we will and won't claim

Outdoor gear specs are misrepresented constantly. Fill power gets overstated. Merino content gets overstated. Temperature ratings run optimistic by fifteen degrees or more.

So here's our rule: we don't publish a number until we've had it independently tested. Where a product page states a spec target rather than a verified figure, it says so plainly. When the test report comes back, the number goes up — and if it comes back lower than the factory claimed, we publish the lower number.

What we don't sell

We don't sell climbing hardware, harnesses, ropes or helmets. That equipment is life-safety gear regulated as Category III PPE, and selling it responsibly requires certification infrastructure we don't have yet. We'd rather not sell it than sell it badly.

Where we're going

Direct sourcing funds the next step: VÅGSLAND-designed gear built to our own specification rather than selected from a catalogue. The BKG alpine line was the first attempt at that. It won't be the last.
